Danville Man First Recipient of Michael Judge Scholarship
Chris Redding, a senior agribusiness management major at Eastern Kentucky University, was recently awarded the Michael Judge Scholarship.
Redding, of Danville, will graduate from EKU in May 2013. He attends classes at the Danville campus and is employed as a parts manager at Industrial Park Distributors. He plans to use his agribusiness education to advance within the company.
A native of Nicholas County, Judge was a professor and farm director for EKU’s Department of Agriculture for more than 20 years. He left EKU to serve as the executive director of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Office of Agricultural Marketing and later joined the Governor’s Office of Agricultural Policy. Judge returned to the EKU Department of Agriculture in 2010 and was a member of the faculty at the time of his passing.
The Michael Judge Scholarship was established by his widow, Kelly Quade, through donations made in his memory. In a letter to Quade, Redding said Judge “was, by far, the best and my favorite professor in my college tenure. He inspired me in so many ways. I consider it a great honor and privilege to be the first ever recipient of the Michael Judge Scholarship.”
Donations to the Michael Judge Scholarship Fund may be sent to the Office of University Advancement, CPO 19A, Eastern Kentucky University, 521 Lancaster Ave., Richmond, Ky., 40475-3102.
